I was visiting the home turf the other day up in the SLV and noticed work going on in the now-defunct Ciao Bella restaurant in Ben Lomond (which massively bums me out that Tad closed up--but that's another story). Just wondering if anyone has heard what if anything is taking its place--or are the building owners just spiffing it up in hopes of selling or renting?

Fri, May 8, 2009 - 10:46 PMI had heard that a bunch of the old crew are taking it over and reopening it. But I just heard it second hand I can't verify the information. -

Re: San Lorenzo Valley---What's Taking Ciao Bella's Place?
Mon, May 11, 2009 - 7:04 AMWell, I know that the interior has been gutted and repainted/repaired. I notice some of the exterior things are still there--like the bus. My spies in SLV are unaware of any plans to reopen it--but it doesn't seem to be up for sale or rent either. Time will tell, but yes, I think that Ciao Bella's is gone for good, kids. Glad I had my birthday party there last June. That was the last time I was there. -

Mon, May 11, 2009 - 10:42 AMI confirmed last night with someone who used to work there and is good friends with other people. It IS reopening and is owned by former employees. It's for sure. -

Mon, May 11, 2009 - 11:52 AMWow--that's great news! Well huzzah! Maybe I can have my birthday there again! Did your informants tell you when they would be opening? (hopefully by mid-June!!)
I used to live a half-block from there--I was bummed by the thought that such an part of the funkiness that is the SLV had disappeared. -
