I live near Nicene Marks and I have been noticing a lot of dead mice walking around, disoriented not running away from humans. A lot of them are dead and they have patches of hair missing. Just today I saw a dead squirrel also with patches of hair missing, so it seems to be the same disease or toxin affecting the mice and squirrels.
Is this something we should be concerned about? Who would I report this to?

Tue, April 14, 2009 - 8:20 PMLet the rangers know--NOT just the maintenance guys--the rangers. The folks that carry the guns. You can also call the district headquarters and talk to the chief ecologist. Not sure who it is these days. -

Any idea what kind of infection could cause this? Its obviously deadly to rodents, but I am hoping its not contagious to humans.
